On a recent trip to New York, we hit the clubs. No, not the late night dance clubs, but two fabulous restaurants: The Lambs Club and the Hurricane Club. These two unrelated restaurants are recent additions to the New York food scene and neither disappointed.
The Lambs Club, a beautiful space in the lobby of the Chatwal Hotel, designed by Stanford White, offers a big, warm room with a blazing fireplace and leather banquettes. The cocktails are seriously great and the service impeccable. The food is comforting and delicious, and interesting to boot. This is classic New York at its best.
The Hurricane Club is a different vibe. The room is loud and crowded, but very hip and stylish. The waiters are beautifully dressed, and serve creative, fresh cocktails in a greatly updated Trader Vic’s atmosphere. This is not tiki tacky, this is tiki cool. The food is a wide-encompassing version of Pan-Asian, but all dishes that we had were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Most importantly, everyone seemed to be having a great time!
