Key West chickens have taken on iconic stature. They roam relatively unmolested all over the island. Generally, we love our chickens. However, if a lovesick rooster ever takes up residence near you, especially in the winter when all our windows are open, you can quickly fall out of love. I spent a good part of one winter suffering with a rooster crowing earlier and earlier (and earlier means around 2:00 in the morning!). The result was serious sleep deprivation. But they sure are beautiful, all different and silly as, well, a chicken!
